Browse the Archive by Decade

Browse the catalogue by the decade the footage was recorded or broadcast. Most of the archive dates from 1985 to 2008; earlier decades come mainly from historical documentary material. A large share of the tape log carries no date. We list those segments as Undated rather than guess.

About the source

The 32.Day archive

32.Gün (32.Day) was the current-affairs programme created and presented by Mehmet Ali Birand. It first aired on TRT on 1 October 1985 and ran for more than three decades on several Turkish channels. Its crews filmed across Turkey, the Middle East, the Balkans, the Caucasus and the former Soviet Union.

The archive is operated by Birand Yapım in Istanbul. It holds 26,617 catalogued tape segments: broadcast programmes, raw interviews and location rushes, mostly on Betacam and 1-inch tape.
